Coldplay was amazing last night. The only song that they didn’t play that I would have loved to hear was ‘Warning Sign’ but I definitely was happy with the overall performance. They also had this insanely awesome light show and effects that went with the songs.

I’m such a sucker for music with piano or string instruments. Those definitely hit me harder than any other music. I also loved the way that Chris Martin was so appreciative of the audience. He thanked us a bunch of times for coming out on a Wednesday night. He even talked to some of the audience members in the front and just seems like a really NICE rock star. I really need to buy the rest of their album on iTunes.

At one point I also got really sad. I was sitting there, loving this music and watching these guys one stage thinking that they are doing exactly what they want to be doing. They want to write, play and perform music and that’s exactly what they are doing. I know that very few people can say that about their jobs/careers, but f*ck I want to be one of those people. I WILL be one of those people.

I just need to have faith that it will happen.

Soon…

word of the day

October 29, 2008

bivouac \BIV-wak, BIV-uh-wak\, noun:
1. An encampment for the night, usually under little or no shelter.

I was going to make a fun sentence with this word, but eff that. This word isn’t fun at all!

I had a meeting with my Supervisor yesterday, just to check in on how I’m doing. I was talking to Joey about it, and saying how I think our relationship has come a long way since she started a year ago. I can honestly say that she really and truely wants her staff to be happy. The person who worked before her at her job was super nice, a great communicator and definitely wanted what was best for the clinic. However, she never spent any time really finding out what our job entailed. She basically called the shots, but really had no idea what the shots meant in relation to our job. My current Supervisor wants to know what we do, wants to know how to do it and wants to really immerse herself into the entire department so she can fully understand everyone’s position.  I think that’s definitely a sign of a good department Manager.

On to non work related things…

Saturday Joey and I went pumpkin picking, which is always a good time. We got 2 great bug pumpkins along with some cider donuts (which actually tasted like pumpkin donuts, but I’m not complaining.) We came back to Cambridge, took a nap for a little while, and got up to get ready for the Sinners and Saints Bash.

The party was definitely fun. Vinalia is located in Downtown Crossing – random! It was a nice place, they served some refreshments for the first hour or so. We danced, we drank and took a TON of pictures with other characters. I was talking to Joey about it, and I really feel like people are way nicer and accepting on holidays like Halloween. I don’t know if people would be as open to pictures on any other day. Literally, there were about 5-10 people I just walked up to and said, ‘Hey, can I get a picture with you?’

Joey won Coldplay tickets for his kicka** ‘Joe: The Plumber” costume. Everyone loved it!

Sunday we were ripped from our sleep at 7am by the Carbon Monoxide detector telling us to get the hell out of the apt. IT WAS SO LOUD! Joey had to rip it out of the ceiling and bury it under some recliner cushions so it would shut up. We went over to my apartment and slept until noon. We went back to Joey’s and started our afternoon of pumpkin pancakes, Halloween movies and pumpkin carving! We watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, But I’m a Cheerleader! (not really festive but very good), and Prom Night. After that we watched some DVR’d episodes of the Office. I’m so far behind with my 90210 episodes and Lipstick Jungle!

I’ll probably check in later, although I really have no idea if anyone reads this other than Allie.
