I‘ve been doing a lot of thinking since I read the book “The Secret.” Call me lame, naive, whatever you want but all I can say is that since I read that book I haven’t stopped thinking about what I took from it. I read it back in September and I still have been holding to some of the things that I read in that book.
Its made me think a lot more about my personal space and how that could be subconsciously setting me up for what’s to come. For example, where you place things. I want to consider myself already to have been accepted into the program at Pratt for which I applied. As I was cleaning off my desk earlier, I had the choice of putting the Graduate Bulletin from Pratt on a shelf under my desk like I do most of the things I don’t want to get in my way, but I want to keep. I started thinking about it and decided to keep the bulletin (which actually is a pretty hefty book) on a shelf ABOVE my desk, right next to my printer and photo paper. I’m really starting to think about all this and I’m wondering if in all this, the secret really is the foundation to all of one’s successes and dreams. I’m a believer that hard work comes into play at well, but maybe mind over matter and perspective is really all it takes.
Joey and I have been talking about NY unofficially as if we’re definitely moving there. I’m really excited to be moving back there and getting to see all those people in my life more frequently. This especially includes my mom, sister and mom’s side of the family. I just miss them a TON when I’m here. I think there will be quite a few trips out there in the coming months, so as we can secure a neighborhood we know we’ll want to be and possibly even see if we know people who are looking to rent.
Little tangent there, but the jist of what I was getting at was how the way you treat things, where you place them, etc. may have a greater impact on your future than you think. I was reading in ‘The Secret’ about how you should live as you would if you had that one thing that you are just waiting to come to you. It’s interesting to think about and live by.
Ok, so this wasn’t funny at all. But it’s things that have been on my mind.
